QUARTz
The air vibrates with energy when QUARTz is on stage. The four young musicians from Denmark are having fun, and it’s contagious! Their music is a refreshing journey through the world of modern jazz.
In Kasper Tom Christiansen and Andreas Lang on drums and bass, QUARTz has a cooking rhythm section to support the virtuoso trumpet solos of Mads La Cour, and Frederik Vedersø contributes to the distinct sound of the band with his melodic guitar playing and rock sound.
Not only personally, but also musically, QUARTz is a group of different personalities which is reflected in the complex repertoire. The sound of jazz is interrupted by rock-inspired pieces and melancholic soundscapes. The free element in the music makes way for the outstanding soloists of QUARTz to move in new directions and expand the musical borders a little bit during each concert.

Reviews
The four boys have snatched the name Quartz from their idols from Heading North who have made a song with the title QUARTz. But the name certainly also refers to the number of people in the band – namely Frederik Vedersø, Mads la Cour, Andreas Lang and Kasper Tom Christiansen. These four lads play a modern and sometimes avant-garde form of Jazz – with the trumpet and guitar as central instruments. Some songs like Eternal Interlude are beautiful, melodious, soft. Others like Ublabu are experimental and with a driving force. But regardless the style of every single song the album is characterized by a high artistic quality of all the songs which are entirely own compositions. Let's face it, So ein Ding muss ich auch haben is not quite the perfect dinner music. For that purpose the music is way too demanding, but if you have some time you should sit down and listen to QUARTz's musical excesses. Because of their interactions, individual performance and the character of the compositions.
